Oathbreaker Banlist Update Summer 2025
No changes at this time.
Overall we are happy with where the format is. We feel that there are no obvious cards still legal that require action on our part, nor are there any obvious cards that we are ready to unban at this time. Although that may change in the future, as Oathbreaker continues to develop its own identity, we aim to be as light handed as possible with future banlist changes.
At Magicon Las Vegas, it was announced that Commander will begin allowing Legendary Vehicles and Spacecraft as commanders. This is something that we learned about at the same time as the rest of the Magic community. We want to remind everyone that this rules update is specific to Commander, and does not affect Oathbreaker. Oathbreaker will continue to require a Planeswalker in the command zone, with an appropriate Signature Spell within the Planeswalker’s color identity.
As mentioned in April, we have no plans to institute anything similar to the Game Changer’s list that now exists in Commander. If we feel like anything needs to be updated, it will be as a full ban/unban. We always recommend having power level discussions with your play group so that everyone has a good game.
